There are five different wards in LHMC – paediatrics, maternity, male ward, female ward, and isolation ward – of which our Maternity Ward is the biggest. It consists of a general ward, private rooms, a labour room, a special baby care unit, and consultation rooms. The hospital has different monitoring equipment to keep a close eye on pregnancies and labour, including multiple ultrasound machines & electronic fetal heart-rate monitors.
Our labour room has recently been renovated, and has the capacity for three deliveries, with the necessary privacy, at the same time and in a safe manner. Enclosed is a neonatal resuscitation area. There is also a separate neonatal care unit, with all the necessary equipment needed to take care of newborns, such as incubators, phototherapy lights (blue lights for babies with newborn jaundice) and a kangaroo mother care area.
